CCSD has lost more than 10,400 students compared with last year and is now facing an additional $51.6 million in budget reductions. But where did those students go? The answer is more complicated than families simply leaving the district. Declining birth rates, demographic change, school choice, personnel costs and Nevada’s enrollment-based funding system are all part of the story.
